Anti Legionella Tap Aerators

neoperl clinic aerator

The control of legionella is of growing concern in hospitals and in particular within the water supply system.
One area of concern centres around the tap aerators where various studies have shown that aerators may be contaminated by gram-negative bacteria.
To help address this issue, we have launched our Clinic Line aerator system developed in conjunction with Neoperl of Switzerland which combats the build up of bacteria on three fronts:

  1. The aerators produce laminar flows – a controlled non splash flow without the introduction of air
  2. The set contains 4 colour coded aerators which should be changed regularly (we recommend every 3 months) to eliminate built up biofilm.
  3. As they are colour coded it ensures that multiple taps can be changed at the same time – all taps should have the same colour so any with a different colour can be easily identified!

The aerators can be seen here: Clinical Tap Aerators – Anti Legionella System

Systema Cool Touch Showers

Cool touch shower

New to the UK, Systema Cool Touch Shower Valves
Using patented technology, the Systema shower valves distribute cold water around the outside body whilst keeping the hot feed inside thus ensuring the body remains cooler in operation – This is particularly important when used by more vulnerable users such as young children or the elderly who are more prone to risk of burns.
These showers are also suitable for commercial premises looking to provide a higher level of safety in their bathrooms.
There is a  bar shower valve (illustrated) together with a matching bath shower mixer.

Cost effective Safe Water In Hospitals

peg-tx402b

The provision of water at a safe temperature in any public building is a legal requirement designed to prevent accidental burns or scalding.
This is  achieved by fitting a TMV valve (TMV2/TMV3 scheme) into the hot water supply which sets a safe maximum hot temperature and ensures that the water supply shuts down in the event that the temperature exceeds the set maximum.
In the public health and care sectors, this can become a substantial cost burden as every outlet (tap or shower) must be safeguarded.
To help this sector meet these requirements in the most cost effective manner, Notjusttaps have introduced Tectite Hospital TMV valves which incorporate built in isolating valves, a push fit connection and a straight through feed on the cold side – These can be installed substantially faster than a normal TMV valve, save on the cost of pipework and most importantly allow for fast access to any outlet without the need to shut off the water supply.

DDA Compliant Taps

alp-MR67273CR

We are increasingly asked whether the healthcare taps that we supply are DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant.
The requirement states that sanitary accommodation will satisfy requirements M1 or M3 of the act if ” any bath or washbasin tap is either controlled automatically or is capable of being operated using a closed fist eg by lever action
The options are therefore to install infra red sensor taps or extended/elbow lever taps.
The introduction of  our new  Ability Lever Taps fully satisfies the acts requirements.
it is also stated that the needs of people with visual impairment should be considered and as such the use of high visibility graphics and the contrast between the lever colour and tap body provides useful visual contrast.
The Italian designed range which includes basin, bath & sink taps will be suitable for any public building looking to ensure their chosen brassware complies with the requirements of the disabilty discrimination act.

Anti-Microbial Bathroom Products

int-grab-rail-copper-polished

The use of copper finishes on bathroom products is very limited yet for the healthcare sector is particularly relevant as extensive research has shown that copper surfaces are the most effective surface for eliminating germs.
Tests show that not only is it far superior to chrome or steel, it is much more effective than Triclosan treated plastic with an ongoing efficacy of 99.9% bacterial elimination within 2 hours of exposure.
As the fight against bacterial infection becomes harder , any material that can aid the fight should be seriously considered.
To this end we now offer both copper medical handwashing taps and copper bathroom/shower grab bars for public washrooms and patient bathrooms.
Technical datasheets are available on request.
